To help small businesses navigate through COVID-19 shutdowns, Facebook, and Instagram (which is owned by Facebook) has recently added new features. These new features have been or are slowly rolling out to all accounts within the next couple of weeks.

INSTAGRAM: NEW FEATURES

Stay Home Sticker

This feature launched when most states were enforcing Stay at Home Orders. By using this feature, your story gets posted to a “Stay at Home” story to show how others are staying at home and practicing social distancing.

Donation Sticker

Instagram rolled out the donation sticker a year ago and started to make it more available to other countries during the quarantine. Use this sticker to encourage your audience to donate to an organization or non-profit of your choice.

Food Orders

To help the restaurant and service industry, Instagram launched the Food Order sticker. Your establishment must be on these featured partners: Caviar, Chownow, delivery.com, DoorDash, GrubHub, Postmates, Seamless, Toast, UberEats. Activate your food order sticker by adding your partner link.

Gift Card

To help small businesses and restaurants, Instagram launched the Gift Card sticker. Your establishment must be on these featured partners: GiftUp! Kabbagae, LoyLap, Raise, Rise, ai, Square, Toast, Yiftee. Activate your gift card sticker by adding your partner link. By clicking on these gift cards on social media, you may get the links to promo codes that could be levied on their parent site.

Thank You

Instagram launched the thank you sticker so others can show what they are thankful for during these trying times.
Use this sticker to show appreciation to front line workers, educators, etc.

Live Donation

Your organization can now raise while on Instagram Live. According to Instagram, all you have to do while on Instagram live is tap the camera in the top left of Feed or swipe right in Feed. Tap Live at the bottom of the screen, select Fundraiser, and choose a non-profit to support.

Guides

To have access to resources that will help our well being and mental health, Instagram launched Guides. According to Instagram, the Guides feature enables creators to connect with expert organizations to share resources during this time, including tips on how to look after your well-being, maintaining connection with others or managing anxiety or grief.

FACEBOOK: NEW FEATURES

Facebook Avatars

Now you can express yourself with a cartoon version of yourself through Facebook’s new Avatars.

Messenger Rooms

The “Zoom” Killer as fellow Social Media Marketers are calling it. Facebook launched a new feature called messenger rooms where you can connect with multiple Facebook connections through video conferencing. Rooms will be able to hold up to 50 people

Facebook Shop

To make E-commerce a lot easier on the consumer and small businesses, Facebook is launching Facebook shop. According to Facebook, Facebook Shops make it easy for businesses to set up a single online store for customers to access on both Facebook and Instagram.
