I go even deeper into this conversation in the latest podcast episode of my podcast, Unapologetically Visible. Listen here!
You scroll your feed, and everyone’s calling themselves something different. Coach. Consultant. Mentor. Strategist. Advisor. Trainer. And if you’re in a season where you’re craving support, you start wondering:What’s the difference?
I get it, because I’ve been there.
Early in my business, I was trying to figure out what kind of leader I wanted to be, I hired people who, on paper, looked perfect. They had the credentials. The testimonials. The polished frameworks.
But I’d walk away from sessions feeling more overwhelmed than activated.
Not because they were bad at what they did, but because I didn’t know what kind of support I actually needed. And that’s one of the most overlooked reasons why ambitious women, especially high-achieving Latinas & WO,C get stuck in cycles of over-investing, under-receiving, and self-doubt.
It’s not that we don’t know how to take action. It’s that we don’t know how to discern what kind of container our next level actually needs.
⚡ The Six Languages of Support
Here’s what I’ve learned after ten years of leading, investing, and coaching: There’s a huge difference between coaching, consulting, mentoring, strategy, training, and advising.
Each one is a different energy. Each one requires a different level of self-awareness and a season of leadership. And when you know how to choose the right one for where you are, you stop buying under pressure and start investing from power.
Let’s break it down.
1️⃣ Coaching — Transformation
Coaching is about transformation, not tactics. It’s about who you’re becoming, not what you’re doing.
Inside my private coaching containers, I don’t start by asking clients what they want to fix. I ask, “Who are you ready to be seen as?”
Because most high-achieving women don’t have a marketing problem, they have a visibility identity problem. They’ve mastered execution, but haven’t learned how to regulate success.
Coaching is where we dismantle the stories that keep you performing instead of leading. It’s where we build capacity to hold wealth, power, and influence without shrinking or self-abandoning.
It’s deep. It’s emotional. It’s sacred.
2️⃣ Consulting — Direction
Consulting is for when you need clear, tactical answers.
It’s when you’re ready to look at the numbers, the message, the conversion flow, and diagnose what’s actually not working.
This is the energy behind my Intensives, short-term, high-focus containers where we map out visibility strategy, refine your message, and fix the leaks.
Consulting gives you clarity and direction, not emotional excavation. It’s for the woman who’s saying.
One of my clients came in saying she felt “invisible online.” After a single Intensive, she rewrote her content through the lens of ROI and identity-based storytelling. Two weeks later, she signed a $3K client from a story sequence.
That’s the difference between guessing and consulting.
3️⃣ Mentoring — Proximity
Mentorship is about wisdom through lived experience.
It’s not about downloading someone else’s blueprint, it’s about calibrating to how they lead.
When I mentor my private coaching clients, I’m not teaching from theory. I’m teaching from embodiment. From ten years of building a personal brand, hosting conferences, rebuilding after burnout, and learning how to lead as a Latina woman who refuses to shrink.
Mentorship is what helps my clients shift from survival to sovereignty. From hustle to harmony. Because sometimes you don’t need another strategy, you need to be in proximity to someone who embodies what you’re trying to sustain.
4️⃣ Strategy — Structure
Strategy is the “how.”
It’s where vision meets execution. It’s what I lead my VIP Day clients through, a full-day deep dive where we rebuild your brand ecosystem from the inside out.
We analyze your content flow, authority positioning, offer alignment, and audience behavior and we map out the visibility strategy that actually supports your next season.
But here’s the nuance most people miss:
You can have the most brilliant strategy in the world… …but if your nervous system doesn’t feel safe being seen, you’ll self-sabotage it.
That’s why I never teach strategy without addressing the identity behind it.
5️⃣ Training — Skill
Training is about capability.
It’s what happens inside my Power Hours, where I teach visibility frameworks, content psychology, and storytelling systems that you can immediately apply.
Training is the entry point, but it’s also a diagnostic moment. It shows you where your gaps are. It reveals what kind of higher-level support might be next.
But even in training, I’ll always pause to ask,
“What story are you telling yourself about your own voice?”
6️⃣ Advising — Thought Partnership
Advising is high-level discernment.
It’s when you don’t need direction or skill, you need perspective.
It’s what happens with long-term clients when they text me saying,
“I’m torn — do I launch this offer, or pause and recalibrate?”
I’ll ask,
“Are you making this move from peace or from proof?”
Advising is about energetic clarity, seeing the full board of your life and business and knowing which move actually aligns with your season.
It’s not about telling you what to do, it’s about helping you see what you can’t yet see.
💡 Why This Matters
Most women who come to me aren’t burnt out because they’re bad at business. They’re burnt out because they’ve been in containers that didn’t match their capacity.
They’ve been taught to buy more “how-to’s” when what they really needed was healing and self-trust. They’ve been over-trained and under-coached.
And the result? They start believing something’s wrong with them, when in reality, they just haven’t experienced the right kind of support for who they’ve become.
🧭 A Framework for Discernment
If you’re trying to figure out which kind of support you need right now, ask yourself these three questions:
1️⃣ What’s the real problem I’m trying to solve? 2️⃣ What kind of support feels safe right now — not just exciting? 3️⃣ Who do I want to become on the other side of this investment?
If you need clarity → consulting. If you need transformation → coaching. If you need embodiment → mentorship. If you need structure → strategy. If you need skill → training. If you need perspective → advising.
Each one is valid. Each one matters. And the most powerful women I know know how to discern between them.
