There are so many social media platforms that can make a business owner’s head spin. To market effectively on social media, you need a plan. Today, I’m sharing my top 8 things I do every week to grow my online presence.
1. Write a blog post
The most important thing you can do for your business is to provide quality content for your audience. Whether it’s tips, tricks, stats, or an update on your business, writing one blog post a week is a way I’m able to showcase my expertise and get people excited about what I’m doing.
2. Share my content on social media
Self-promotion isn’t icky; it is an essential part of your business. Every day, I make sure I pin my blog post on Pinterest and schedule my posts on Twitter.
3. Share behind the scenes of my business on Instagram
My Instagram strategy involves a lot of sharing on Instagram Stories + micro-blogging on Instagram. Some of the content I share on my Instagram stories include:
- Behind the scenes of what I’m working on
- Who my clients are and what they are doing
- The results of my clients
- Social Media Tips
- Any workshops I’m conducting
- Updates on my business
- Bits on personal life
4. Live Video
I try to do a Facebook/ Instagram live at least once a month. Just like writing a blog, I use the power of Live video to connect with my audience and answer any social media questions they might have or conduct live workshops to showcase my expertise.
5. Be Social on Social Media
I like to connect with other creative entrepreneurs on social media via Facebook groups. The more you connect with people, take the time to answer questions, comment, you’ll build a genuine connection. Here’s a list of my top 10 Facebook Groups to Join.
6. Participate in Twitter Chats
Ever since I participated in my first Twitter chat two years ago, I’ve managed to build some of the most authentic relationships with some fabulous creatives throughout the country. Through building these relationships, I’ve been able to collaborate and be surrounded by a community that cheers each other on through the victories of creative entrepreneur life! Here is a guide to Twitter Chats.
7. In-person Networking
Sometimes you have to take it back to the basics. While I do get a lot of people who find me on Instagram first before they meet me, in-person networking has helped grow my following. I put myself out there by attending networking events in my industry, conducting in-person workshops and speaking engagements. Once I meet with someone, we usually find each other on Facebook and follow each other on Instagram or Twitter.
8. Track my analytics
Every Monday, I track my analytics to see what works and what isn’t working. If I’m getting more traction on Instagram than on Facebook, then I focus my strategy for the week on Instagram. This is an example on how I organize my weekly analytics.
