Social Media for business is on the rise. According to Digitalinformationworld.com, there are over 2.3 billion active users, and 83% of all marketers have already taken advantage of social media marketing to increase their sales.
Social Media changes constantly. New platforms launch and new features become available almost every day. If you’re not using a strategy for social media for your business, you’re missing out. And I’m not talking about casually updating statuses and pictures. I’m talking about a full blown strategy, meant to increase reach, engagement, and ultimately grow your business.
But what trends should be on your radar? In this post, we’re covering three you shouldn’t ignore.
Trend #1 Video Content:
Currently, users are gravitating towards live streaming and using video content for more organic reach. Over 48% of business owners plan to add video content to their marketing strategy. YouTube, Facebook LIVE, Snapchat, and now Instagram Stories/Live are some of the popular platforms for video content. Here’s how my client gives her audience a “behind the scenes” look at her business through Instagram Stories:
Here are three content ideas for Facebook Live:
- Conduct a workshop/ live masterclass.
- Showcase new products/ or give a “How to” tutorial.
- Conduct a Q&A Interview or give an update on new products/features.
Three content ideas for Instagram Stories:
- Treat it like a Vlog and showcase a behind the scenes look at your business .
- Offer promotions & special offers.
- Highlight an event you’re hosting or attending.
Trend #2 Snapchat Geofilters
I’ve witnessed missed opportunities for a Snapchat Geofilter during huge local events from multiple brands. You might see custom Geo filters during weddings or when you’ve arrived at a new city. Geofilters have the capability of measuring how many users have interacted and have used your filter through their analytics. Trend #3: Influencer Marketing
More businesses/brands are gravitating towards influencer marketing. If done correctly, influencer marketing can organically reach far more users than a billboard or flyer could ever do. If you’re thinking about gravitating towards influencer marketing, start by identifying influencers not just by the number of followers they have on social media, but by the kind of engagement they have with their followers. Do they receive a lot of comments? Are they posting engaging and high-quality photos? Do they have a consistency to their postings? One of the most organic ways to create social media buzz is through influencer marketing, especially during an event. One of my services, “The Butterfly Effect” is meant to do just that. For example, I hosted a private influencer event for a client of mine named “Suck it: The Restaurant.” Over 32 influencers came to the event, and during the two hours, their hashtag reached a total of 69K users on Instagram. Since the event, the restaurant doubled in sales, maintained relationships with key influencers and has organically reached over 1K followers within 90 days. Digital marketing trends will continue to rise, so it’s best to stay on track with all of this ever-changing platforms.
