Ever since I started my social media/ blogging strategy consulting business, I’ve been able to book clients via social media. Anytime I meet with a potential client or newbie blogger; they want to know the secrets on how to get discovered online. The answer is simple but often overlooked. I’d like to share my secret formula that has worked for my biz. A friend recently told me about thefinalstep.co.uk, these guys write a very informative blog that I highly recommend if you are looking to develop a new business strategy!
Online to In-person Networking
I went from having my blog read from family & close friends to thousands across the world finding The Social Butterfly Gal online. Many want an overnight success, but it took a lot of consistent networking in-person and online to do that. Locally, I went to any networking event possible to get my name out there. San Antonio has a fabulous blogger group called #SATXBloggers. Each day in our group there is a blog thread. Anytime I had a new blog post I would post mine in the thread but also made sure to comment on everyone’s blogs too. They also host coffee meet-ups. Guess who was always there having an iced latte? It’s all about building relationships.
Online, I started participating in Twitter Chats. Read more about how I launched my own successful Twitter Chat. Once I got the hang of Twitter chats, I would take it a step further and email those whom I connected with to guest post on their website. Guest posting is a win-win for both parties involved. You can read more on how to collaborate with other bloggers here
Providing valuable content
When it comes to content, it’s important to create useful content. Valuable content includes tips, hacks, lessons, mistakes, victories, etc. It is your job to serve your ideal customer/audience as best as possible.
If you’re posting inconsistently or shouting your message to the wrong people, that’s why you do not see any results! It takes a lot to show up on social media. Trust me, I KNOW! The trick is to find out when your audience is on. In a recent blog post, Five Mistakes Creatives Make, I explain how utilizing analytics and scheduling social media has helped me stay consistent. I know what time my audience is on and what content they love the post.
Speaking of, did you know I offer packages to help you with building your tribe and staying consistent? Check out my Cocoon Package for building community. And my Soaring package for direction with your content!
Using video for my brand
The power of video is amazing. When Facebook launched the live feature, I started to use it to get in front of my audience. I have a background in broadcasting, so I wasn’t afraid to step into the live video realm. By using video, my audience can get familiar with my bubbly personality and build trust. See how I put video to use in this Facebook live video: Three main ingredients you need when deciding to launch a blog!
